Rebecca + Henry | Wedding Same day Edit

We met Rebecca and Henry more than a year ago. They were one of the early bookings we had for 2014, and we felt very connected to them the first time we met. It was definitely one of the best consultation experiences we had, as they came in with trust and admiration for our work. Moments like these keep our passion for our work aflame. We love to do what we do, and we do it with pride =)

The wedding day kicked off with traditional Chinese door games and tea ceremonies, followed by a Christian ceremony at Tri-City Canaan Church. You can tell that Rebecca and Henry are an amazing couple when the church is full, attended by their loving throng of friends and family. The couple met many years ago in their third grade class at Clinton Elementary but the bride-to-be moved away before finishing the year.  Fast forward 10 years later, Henry recognized his third-grade classmate when he accidentally blocked Rebecca's sprint up the stairs to an English class, and started making conversation to the startled, skeptical girl.  They met up the next day to compare class photos - Rebecca was certain that she would've remembered him - and was amused to learn that they had indeed crossed paths long ago.  The two instantly became close friends, and three years later Henry got down on his knee on the steps of their University - the place where they officially met - and asked for her eternal affection!

Their wedding was fun and filled with laughter, and we were extremely thrilled to have had the opportunity to shoot this special day with such a delightful couple. This was also one of the most rewarding wedding shoots. The team came back with plenty of praises and thanks from not only the couple and wedding party, but also many of the guests. This is one of the reasons why we love Same Day Edits. We are honored to be your video team for your special day and thank you for all the trust and support you have for us. =)

Harman + Sonia | Destination Wedding | Edmonton, Alberta

This is the wedding that everyone on the Modern Romance team has been waiting for since last year. Raj, Sonia's brother, contacted us after he found us from the list of winners on the BC Wedding Awards website. When he called us, he asked if we do destination weddings and coincidentally, we were shooting one in Hawaii at the time. "Yes, in fact, we're shooting one this week!" That was our first phone conversation and it is also one of a few bookings that we got through phone calls.

We got even more excited after we found out the wedding is going to be our BIGGEST wedding ever. Raj told us that there are going to be about 1000 guests at the banquet. Oh my! We doubt we will ever get to shoot another one with 1000 guests. Overwhelming and amazing. The more we find out about the wedding and all the details that Raj was planning for his lovely sister Sonia, the more excited we were. We were told they are planning to have sky lanterns, fire dancers, elephant instead of the traditional horse that a groom usually rides, fireworks, and more (which you will see some of those in the SDE)! Later we found that the only elephant in Edmonton has been sick so they had to give up on the idea of "hiring" that elephant. Hope it gets well soon.

The day has finally come, we were all pumped up and ready to go. We rented a mini van, literally STUFFED the van with all our gear and personal belongings. Raj booked everything our video team could offer - live feed, our 18' crane (that we normally don't bring), video booth (too bad we didn't have our Slow-Mo Booth at the time) 4-cameraman coverage, and same-day-edit!  We spent 3 hours to assemble + disassemble our crane, pack the mini van, go through newly labelled gear, and tie our crane to the roof. Our scheduled departure was at 11:00 PM and we couldn't leave until 2:00 AM. The 12-hour drive was not so much fun. Neck-ache was one of our nemeses, not to mention numb legs and butts.

One of the many highlights of the wedding was to see Malkit Singh's live performance on stage at Sonia's Sangeet party. It was a huge surprise that Sonia and Raj planned for everyone, especially their parents. Everyone.. EVERYONE was so hyped up when Malkit Singh showed up on stage singing. We were so amazed that the family flew them from Europe. Amazing! Another surprise was the entrance of Sonia and Harman riding an ATV! Harman brings the fun everywhere he goes - the beautiful fireworks at his uncle's farm, all the dancing and diving into the crowds on the dance floor were definitely entertaining!

There so much we can talk about this wedding. We will just let the SDE show for itself. Enjoy!

Willette + Dominic | Terminal City Club | Same-Day-Edit

"Two are better than one!"

Love brought Willette and Dominic together by surprise. Willette never thought they would be together and here they are, at "this beautiful hotel", they sealed their promises with the kiss. Dominic and his groomsmen went through all the infamous Door Games, even with one that we've never seen, the "Break the Eggs Hump"! And man, that chocolate on the diaper looks too real! In the SDE, one of the groomsmen licked the "brown" part on the diaper and said with a relief "oh ok it's chocolate." That was hilarious!

We were so glad to see Christina from Red Carpet Ready by Christina  at Willette's wedding. One of our recent additions to our Favourite Make-up Artists. Christina did an amazing job for Willette - different looks from white wedding gown to the traditional Chinese red gown with a touch of the big red rose in Willette's hair design. Near the end of the day, we overheard Dominic saying how Christina did an amazing job with all the beautiful make-up and hair styling; he even mentioned how Willette was once a tomboy so he's not used to the looks but she looked absolutely beautiful. Though we weren't the make-up artist but we were so proud hearing that!

It was a pleasure to work with Willette and Dominic and we are grateful that another bride Amy recommended us to them. We love our couples and grateful for the kind people that we get to work with. Willette and Dominic were definitely a great couple to have. Thanks for trusting us to capture your beautiful day.

Eunice + Brian | Wedding Same-Day-Edit

This was one of the weddings that we looked forward the most of this year for several reasons. We've always loved it when our own video and photo teams shoot together. It was also a wedding of good friends of ours, and it's always exciting to be an important part of a friend's special day. Eunice and Brian have been more supportive than any photographers and videographers could ask for, and we are very grateful for it.

You know your couple is a great one just by seeing and spending time with their beloved families and friends. When everyone has a smile on their face throughout the day, you know that it can only be a wonderful day, nothing should go wrong! And indeed, everything went smoothly as expected.

My favourite part of this Same-Day-Edit (SDE) is where Eunice and Brian shared their vows. Instead of showing the complete vow of each, we combined both into one. Because that's what marriage is about, we celebration the two people unite. I always get the kind of "aww" feeling whenever we show this video to our 2014 couples, never fails!

We love our couples. Eunice and Brian are one of the best examples to show why we do!  Thank you for the wonderful day and not to mention how Brian totally surprised us with his crazy dance moves and energy on the dance floor. Oh wait, not just Brian, it was the whole group of their friends! Simply.amazing! =)
