Ann Marie + Marco | Bothell, WA to Whistler, BC

We see every wedding outside Vancouver lower mainland as a "destination wedding" or at least an "out of town" wedding. We were thrilled to learn that we were going to shoot Ann Marie and Marco's wedding at Whistler. This super fun, cheerful, and kind couple are from Seattle, Washington; so this gorgeous Whistler wedding was actually a real destination wedding for them. They invited their families and friends to join them at one of their favourite places - Whistler, BC - in celebration of the special occasion. This was more than just a wedding day, it was a journey together. There are only so few chances in our lives where most of our loved ones could be at one place, at the same time, celebrating for something so loving and so remarkable. Well, Ann Marie & Marco's wedding was one!

The initial consultation with Ann Marie & Marco was one of a kind. We usually meet our out-of-town couples via Skype chats; but no, that was not the case with them. They drove up to Vancouver, and we couldn't tell you how excited and honored we felt. During the meeting, Marco mentioned about his idea of having a camera on him filming him going through the reception buffet! We began to brainstorm, expand the idea, and threw in more ideas and all the possibilities of what we can achieve with the GoPro we have. It sort of became a unique "GoPro" wedding video, and we don't normally use GoPro at weddings because it is not for every couple. Then we noticed Marco had his eyes wide opened but he was quiet, and we thought, well perhaps we weren't hitting that sweet spot of interest and might not get to work with this amazing couple after all. Then Ann Marie probably noticed our moment, she smiled and said, "he's excited, I can tell by that look on his face that he is pumped with all that GoPro ideas." That was it! That was the moment we felt, "this is it! we MUST work with them!"

Seriously, who lets their videographer mount a GoPro on the knife of which they used for cake cutting? How awesome is that?

This is one of the most anticipated weddings of the year. This was also our first wedding to shoot in Whistler as a team and most of us had never been to The Peak, especially in the summer time! It was so gorgeous up there, all that snow capped mountains, 360 degree of breathtaking views, and bright blue skies. Every great things requires great efforts. And you could probably tell that it wasn't easy to hike up there at all, not easy in Ann Marie's dazzling white wedding gown, not in Marco and his groomsmen's hot looking suits, and most definitely not with a ton of video (and photo) gear with us on a hot day. It was one of the most challenging and tiring wedding portrait shoots we had to do. But it was worth it. So worth it for the view and most importantly for this amazing couple and their fun bridal party. If you read all these and still haven't seen the video, do that now, and please tell us you love it! Enjoy =)

Tina + Peter | Wedding Highlights | QE Park + Vancouver Aquarium

We learned that Tina and Peter share a fond love for learning, conservation, wildlife, and travelling when we got to know them better.  This dynamic duo had visited almost every major museum and aquarium in North America which is why they had decided to hold the reception a very special venue: the Vancouver Aquarium!  The couple's combined love for conservation led them to pick the aquarium because they knew that all proceeds the institution earns will be put towards preservation and rehabilitation efforts.

Peter, the groom, took great pleasure planning out all the details and decorations of this wedding: it was held underground next to the beluga pools with beautiful sand and aquatic themed centerpieces on satin green tablecloths.  Their wedding cake topper featured two adorable floating sea otters, one wearing pearls and one holding a badminton racket, commemorating the sporting activity where they first met.  The wedding was so beautiful and dreamy and the beluga even danced with the newlyweds when the DJ started playing dance music!  We had such a great time capturing the couple's special moment with all the other fish and marine animals.  This shoot is definitely going down in our books as one of our best experiences at a wedding!

Rebecca + Henry | Wedding Same day Edit

We met Rebecca and Henry more than a year ago. They were one of the early bookings we had for 2014, and we felt very connected to them the first time we met. It was definitely one of the best consultation experiences we had, as they came in with trust and admiration for our work. Moments like these keep our passion for our work aflame. We love to do what we do, and we do it with pride =)

The wedding day kicked off with traditional Chinese door games and tea ceremonies, followed by a Christian ceremony at Tri-City Canaan Church. You can tell that Rebecca and Henry are an amazing couple when the church is full, attended by their loving throng of friends and family. The couple met many years ago in their third grade class at Clinton Elementary but the bride-to-be moved away before finishing the year.  Fast forward 10 years later, Henry recognized his third-grade classmate when he accidentally blocked Rebecca's sprint up the stairs to an English class, and started making conversation to the startled, skeptical girl.  They met up the next day to compare class photos - Rebecca was certain that she would've remembered him - and was amused to learn that they had indeed crossed paths long ago.  The two instantly became close friends, and three years later Henry got down on his knee on the steps of their University - the place where they officially met - and asked for her eternal affection!

Their wedding was fun and filled with laughter, and we were extremely thrilled to have had the opportunity to shoot this special day with such a delightful couple. This was also one of the most rewarding wedding shoots. The team came back with plenty of praises and thanks from not only the couple and wedding party, but also many of the guests. This is one of the reasons why we love Same Day Edits. We are honored to be your video team for your special day and thank you for all the trust and support you have for us. =)

Wendy + Hansen | Hycroft Manor Wedding | Same Day Edit

These two love birds have incredibly fun personalities. You will always see a smile on their faces. We had the pleasure to meet them recommended by Anita Lee, one of our favourite make-up artists to work with! We did not know that Wendy has this obsession with cats until we arrived at their home in the morning and saw 2 adorable cats. Then she told us she has five cats! Five! Too bad we didn't get to the other three cats that were hiding but we saw a tall glass display shelf FULL of transformer models, figurines, and what-not. We knew Hansen likes Transformers but had no idea he has an obsession for them!  But we know that nothing can beat their obsession for each other. It was a great day working with many great people. The sunshine came out in the afternoon after a little rain in the morning.

Tina + Andy | Highlights | Dreamy wedding at Swan-E-Set

When we stepped into Tina and Andy's wedding we were very impressed by the colors and the set.  The guests were embraced by a gentle cascade of the colors white and beige that casted a gentle glow on the  beautiful trees that accentuated the rustic and luxurious Swaneset venue.  A very memorable moment for me was the wedding cake; an ombre, rose-petal cake was baked by the bride's sister, Judy Wu.  Imagine how impressed we were to learn that this wedding cake was her very first endeavor as baking and designing the cake.  Amazing job, Judy!

The couple's reception centerpieces were top-notch elegant, too, with slender trees, dangling crystal and pearl tendrils, and petite cream-colored doves perched on its gilded branches.  Tiny and Andy's portrait session on Swaneset, although it was chilly, it was as fun and magical as the day.  The site further enhances the romantic fantasy as their profiles silhouette beautifully against the warm glow of the setting sun and the row of maple trees.  This was truly an fantastical experience for us to shoot.  Congratulations to the happy couple!

Jessica + Nathan | Same Day Edit | Vancouver International Airport

We met Jessica and Nathan for almost a decade ago, they are two genuine, kind-hearted friends that one is lucky to have. We knew that this couple will eventually tie the knot and start a new chapter in their life together one day, we just didn't know when it was going to happen. When Nathan approached us with the good news of they're finally getting married, it also came with a very heart-breaking news that Jessica's dad only has so many days left before he can't walk the aisle with his daughter. It was an emotional news for us.

Despite all the pressure on putting a wedding together within 4 weeks, working out of town, visiting hospital everyday, and all the other bits and pieces, Jessica and Nathan managed to be strong and their wedding was unique and beautiful. We are very honored to be their videographers to capture such significant day for them and the family. Every moment is important and needs to be well reserved. We were very glad to show Jessica's dad parts of the ceremony when we visited the hospital just right after the ceremony. It was a very emotional, tearful, but also joyful moment for everyone.

Nathan and Jessica managed to have their wedding celebrated at, for the very first time, Vancouver International Airport (YVR)/Fairmont Vancouver Airport! It was an unique experience for everyone including us. Can you imagine having a wedding at the airport, turning it into a ballroom, and also having a slow motion booth too? No need to imagine all that, you'll see it all in the video!

Amy + Robin | Wedding Highlight | Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver

Amy and Robin are high school sweet hearts who have been through many years together, hand in hand, tears and smiles. It's one of those things that I really admire. We are so happy to be a part of their intimate wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver Downtown, beautiful wedding decorated with their theme colours - royal blue, with lots of personal touches such as personalized ribbons and gorgeous wedding cake by Kien and Sweets, and their well-planned games and decorations.

It was also our first time working with Helena and Jessie from Elysium Events "officially", such a pleasure to work with those two fabulous ladies.

Amy and I worked together at a small kiosk in Coquitlam Centre many many years ago, we clicked really fast and had so much to chat with whether on the phone or at work. We both love reading comics and had so much to talk about our boyfriends. It's not easy to find good friends once we're out of school, I was fortunate enough to have met Amy and so grateful to have this friend though we lost contact for several years. It was a little disappointing that I couldn't photograph her wedding (the popular date - Sep 7th of 2013!) but at least I got to photograph her engagement session. Thank you for the support and love. We wish you and Robin all the best in the future years. =)
